Outfit: Transitioning into Winter

Guys... I did it! I did an outfit post. Granted it is kinda horrible, and I shot it in my house with a dying camera, but I finally got the courage to attempt it so... A for effort. Right?

Cable knit sweaters happen to be one of my favorite things, and they are perfect for those weeks between autumn and winter where the weather can be super weird. Then I put my favorite vest over the sweater to pull the look together.

Sweater: Ralph Lauren // Vest: Old Navy // Jeans: Old Navy // Boots: Target

Woo for attempting! Hopefully my next one will be a lot better.

Holiday Playlist

I am big believer in the fact that the Christmas season doesn't start till after Thanksgiving, so naturally, I created my Holiday Playlist the minute I finished dinner. (Fair warning...there's a lot of Nutcracker.) (Also there's some Hanukkah music which I love.)

What I am Thankful for . . .

Happy happy Thanksgiving! Here's what I'm thankful for . . .

(Can I be thankful that Will started shaving?)

Wilbo and Emwise aka my brother and sister. I miss my brother a lot during the holidays, and I know that he rather be down South than in Boston. He's always there to help me despite the fact that he lives 16 hours away. Emma lives a home currently, and I don't think we've even been closer than we are right now. I mean, I can't remember the last time we seriously fought.

I'm also super thankful for my parents. I wouldn't be where I am today without them.

Tor, aBe, Naddles, and Zach. The greatest friends I could ever ask for. I've learned how to be a better person from Tor and aBe, but Naddles is always there for when I need to rant about people. Zach is the best baby brother despite the fact that coaches think we are dating.

I am also thankful for my "seniors" who still talk to me despite the fact that I am still in high school. Seeing what they are doing in college makes me so happy but also so jealous.

An 8-3 football season. I've never loved a group of guys more, and I am still super proud even though the season ended a two weeks ago. I'm thankful for the fact that I've survived another season with these guys, and I am thankful for the fact that I get to do it all again next year. I don't know what I will do without the crazy seniors next year, but I love my "boys of fall."

What are y'all thankful for today?

Gift Guides | For Men

I was recently contacted by Jason from Bonobos about their gift guides. They have seven guides for the man who has almost everything. I'm actually the worst at buying gifts for my dad and my brother, so this is totally helpful. There's also a gift for every price range!

Today I am featuring my 3 favorite gift guides and my favorite things from each set, but they truly are all fabulous!

I must say I am obsessed with the colors in these gift guides.

Turkey Day Traditions

Thanksgiving in my house is a huge deal. The day goes the same pretty much every year, and it is one of my mom's favorite holidays.

Wake up and watch the parade | This is accompanied by breakfast (hopefully French toast) made by my dad. At this point, most of us are still asleep (my brother and sister).

Football | Then it is football for the rest of the day. I think this is my mom's least favorite part of the day, but personally, it's my favorite. My dad and sister are usually making dinner by now. My momma makes the green bean casserole with Emma.

Dinner | Thanksgiving isn't complete without a huge southern dinner. This meal includes real stuffing (not that Yankee stuff), a honey baked ham, green bean casserole, and mashed potatoes. My mom insists on us saying what we are thankful for . . . and my sister is always thankful for green bean casserole, and I never know what to say.

Post Dinner Nap | Then we sleep for three hours, and when we wake up, we watch Stalag 17.

What do y'all do for Thanksgiving?

Gettin' Ready for Rivalry Week

Y'all the greatest week in college football is about to happen. RIVALRY WEEK. The Iron Bowl. Clean Old Fashion Hate. Land of Lincoln. UK vs. UT. The Egg Bowl. Battle of the Palmetto State. This is the week that college football happens.
So clearly you have to look cute. (More like I am obsessed with GameDay outfits.)

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech

Alabama vs. Auburn

Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State

Happy Rivalry Week!

Christmas Sweaters

It's time to start planning for your ugly Christmas sweater parties. I, however, am not a fan of wearing ugly sweaters. I mean, when I wear a Christmas sweater, I want to look like Amy Pond in her reindeer sweater.

That's where ASOS comes in . . .

Look how adorable this sweater is! I love how it's paired with a leather skirt. (something I could NEVER pull off.)

First Blog Milestone | Six Months!

After 5000+ pageviews and over 200 posts, I have been officially blogging for six months. I can't believe a little side project over the summer has become such a HUGE part of my life. I've been so blessed to talk to some amazing people through blogging! (These people include but are not limited to Rebecca, Chloe, Ashley, and Zhenya.) And I feel like blogging has helped me learn a lot about myself.

Here are some of my favorite posts from the past six months!

I just think it is funny how much I've evolved as a blog writer in the past six months. Here's to six more months of fabulous readers, keeping up this blog, and exploring!

What to Wear: Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving in less than a week (hallelujah!), it's time to start thinking about your outfit for your family dinner. At my house, Thanksgiving dinner is super casual. I mean, we wear pajamas sometimes, but I do love dressing up for dinner.

Thanksgiving 2012: We are like a Norman Rockwell painting. (Also Em's fur??)
Here are two outfits I styled for Thanksgiving dinner:

Thanksgiving

On the left | This is definitely a more casual dinner outfit. It's a total step up from my family's normal PJs, but it's still comfortable because you're only wearing a sweater and jeans.
I've been loving green jeans for the past two years, and I think the color helps transitions you into that Christmas spirit.

On the right | And this outfit it more of a "classier" dinner outfit. Again, it's nothing too fancy, but I feel the cranberry and black, a color combo I adore, make you seem fancy.
It's no secret that I adore my cranberry lipstick, so why not try it in a dress form? This also another color that helps with the Christmas spirit.

Tell me your Turkey Day plans!

Gift Guides

While I fully believe that it is NOT the Christmas season, I do believe that you need to start thinking about presents now. Not the presents you want, but the presents you want to give. I love giving presents, but I am horrible at it, so I am jumping on top of finding the best ones. (I am making all of my friends' gifts though. Post later perhaps?) Here are some of my favorite gift guides! (Also I swear every website has one right now!)

I Love a Good Zip-Up

I think 3/4 zip-ups are a "nicer" version of a sweatshirt (which I practically live in). To me, they are still comfy, but they have a more interesting appeal than sweatshirts.

A Little Pep Talk

Everyone knows who Kid President is, and I absolutely love his video. Recently I watched one of videos that was perfect for my little slump I've been in.

P.S. What you would name your dinosaur? :)

Day Off!

I am so sorry for no post today! I hate when I do this, but I seriously just forgot to schedule one on Friday. Normally, I would've schedule one yesterday, but I was with the football team all day! Thank you for understanding, and I will be back Monday. :)

Sweater Weather Tag

Y'all are probably going to think I am lame, but I saw EssieButton do this tag video, and I was so obsessed with it that I just had to do a tag post.

QUESTIONS:
1. Favourite candle scent?

Yankee candle, Harvest. It's literally the ONLY candle we own.

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

Coffee most days, but sometimes you just have to have hot chocolate.

3. What's the best fall memory you have?

Probably the rivalry game last season because one of my best friends and I stood on the sideline and watched.

4. Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?
Dark lips, but I do love a good winged eyeliner; however, I can't do it.

5. Best fragrance for fall?

I don't have one!

6. Favourite Thanksgiving food?

Southern stuffing, not that nasty Yankee stuffing, and honey baked ham. (Yeah, we don't get turkey.)

7. What is Autumn weather like where you live?

For like two weeks in October, it is kinda cool, and leaves are turning. Then it gets horribly cold . . . like I felt like I froze at practice the other day. #SouthernProblems

8. Most worn sweater?

I haven't worn this one much, but I adore my new J.Crew sweater.

9. Must-have nail polish this fall?

Foie Gras from the China Glaze Hunger Games collection.

10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?

Do you EVEN have to ask? Football!

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?

Leggings all the way.

12. Combat boots or Uggs?

Riding boots?

13. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?

I haven't had one since I started drinking coffee, but I didn't like it about two years ago.

14. Favourite fall TV show?

Haven't watched enough TV lately! Any suggestions?

15. What song really gets you into the fall spirit?

Skinny Love - Birdy

A New York Minute

One of my favorite episodes of The West Wing starts out with New York Minute by Don Henley, and it easily became one of my favorite songs. While I was stalking Kate Spade's sale section, one of their idiom bracelets had A New York Minute inscribed on it, and I thought it was too cute! Check out how I styled it.

I would imagine a double gold headband here too. Maybe in place of the clutch?

P.S. If y'all keep my momma in your thoughts and prayers for the next couple of weeks, I would appreciate it so much! Thank you. :)

Major Wanderlust

I am so burnt out . . . My county hasn't had a break since Labor Day, and I am fried. I so need just a week off aka Thanksgiving come faster! I am so desperate to travel right now, and it's not helping that a TON of bloggers are planning trips/have gone on trips recently.

Amsterdam | I am obsessed with the Netherlands, and people think that's super weird. Whatever, I think it is a beautiful country.

Rio de Janeiro | Holla at me any future 2016 Olympians. (No but really. I have to go!)

Patagonia | It's just so beautiful... I've promised my brother that I would go with him!

London | Preferably last summer, but any time would do!

ANYWHERE in the world . . . where would you go?
