Countdown to Game Day // LSU

Today's the last day! Tomorrow is Game Day. Are y'all pumped to watch Corso and Fowler tomorrow are College GameDay? The last school is LSU, and Sarah from Sarah Smile was kind enough to help me with today's post. Enjoy!

photo sarah-hello_zps81f8f64b.jpgMy name is Sarah and I blog over at Sarah Smile! I am almost 20, I'm a junior in political science, and I am about to leave for my semester abroad in England! As you can see, pretty exciting things happening, but for now, we'll just focus on the fact that kickoff is just days away! Football season is almost upon us, and even though I won't even be stateside to enjoy it, I thought I'd share my best advice bits with y'all. As you'll probably already know, I go to LSU (Louisiana State University) in Baton Rouge, LA, which should tell you two things…1. SEC football (meaning we take it very seriously) and 2. It's freaking hot (meaning I've learned a few tips and tricks to make the most of the heat).
"LSU has won three National Championships in 1958, 2003 and 2007. LSU won the BCS National Championship in 2004 (2003 season) with a 21–14 win over Oklahoma in the Nokia Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, and the 2008 BCS National Championship Game (2007 season) versus the Ohio State Buckeyes with a 38–24 score, thus becoming the first team since the advent of the BCS to win multiple BCS national titles. Current head coach Les Miles has led the team since 2005."

Here goes… Clothing
When it comes to choosing an outfit, I generally go for a dress. I say this because dresses are much less clingy and much more breezy than pants or shorts. However, I also often pair a cute skirt with a loose fitting top, and it's almost just as comfortable. My number one piece of advice outfit wise is to shoot for comfort first...don't wear a backless dress if you have to wear sticky boobs (you will sweat and then you'll have to fuss with them all day. Do not wear your high heel boots...do I even need to justify that? I generally pick easy things that don't require strapless bras, don't cling and have to be "fixed", and don't show sweat. In the colder months (for the maybe 2 cold games that we get in LA), I love to wear a button down, riding boots, leggings/jeans, and a cute scarf. It's comfortable, warm, and totally functional, but still cute. It's also really easy to throw a puffer vest on top for extra warmth and pockets if need be! Comfort is key. When you aren't comfortable, you're not super confident and then you worry about that instead of having fun at the game...and trust me, that's no fun, so wear what you feel good in!

A few of my favorite game day outfits…

I usually stick to purple as I don't really like yellow or gold on my skin tone, but you can also mix neutrals in as well. I'd say pick one of your team's colors to run with and keep the rest pretty simple, unless of course, the dress/shirt/skirt already has both colors in it!

On the accessories front, keep it light. I don't generally like big statement necklaces, especially when it's hot, so I generally stick to my monogram necklace and/or pearls. They go with everything and don't agitate me all day. I also carry just a clutch or wristlet with the bare essentials...Chapstick/lipgloss, powder compact, ponies, bobby pins, my ticket, my Tiger Card, a credit card or a bit of cash, and my phone. I tend to carry aspirin too, just in case I have a headache during the game...that's seriously saved my good mood more than once. #alwaysaheadachebyhalftime

Make Up
I have three words for you...Makeup Setting Spray. I will swear by that stuff until I die. I road tested it during the hottest sorority recruitment ever and I'll never go without it. I tend to keep my make up pretty natural on an everyday basis and game days are no different. It's generally pretty lucky if I put on eyeliner or a bit of eye shadow, just because I'm not going to impress anyone, I'm going to have fun, and I don't want to be touching that shizz up all day, know what I mean? I bring powder with me to touch up my nose or whatever if I sweat, but other than that, I just go heavy on the mascara and lip stain, and we're good to go. Use a matte foundation and you should be good for 12+ hours. Pro Tip: Don't forget sunscreen under your makeup and on your shoulders (at least)…that sunglasses tan doesn't look so hot come Monday morning classes.

Day Drinking
Okay, we all know what goes on at tailgates, so I thought I'd pass on my best game day drinking advice. 1. Eat a good breakfast. 2. Start the day with a water, not a beer. (Trust me on that one). 3. Don't drink anything if you aren't sure where it came from or what's in it. I know that sounds like I'm taking the fun out of it and I'm being a mom, but trash can punch is never a good idea. 4. Do the whole "never put your drink down or let it out of your sight thing." It's not worth taking a chance. 5. Pace yourself. I tend to switch to water or soda when I get into the stadium and that has helped me many a time. You don't realize how long of a day you've had and how hot it's been and how dehydrated your body is getting (no thanks to you, boxed wine) until you wake up the next morning and feel like you're dying...so just take it slow, you've got a long day ahead!

Thank you so much to Sarah for helping me with this post! I think her tips are great for anyone's Game Day.
Who are y'all rooting for tomorrow??

August Favorites

I am so thankful that August is over. I just want to it to be fall and cold and to wear sweaters. School's been going. I don't enjoy school at the moment, but I am not fully stressed yet. I just wish I could already be over with the dreaded junior year.

Well here are my favorites!

Agenda | With back to school, comes writing down your entire life in your agenda. This is my third year with a Lilly Pulitzer agenda, and I don't think I will be switching anytime soon. Be on the look out for a video. :)

Striped Shirt & J.Crew scarf | This is a very specific outfit, but I've worn it twice this month, so I felt like I had to talk about it. I am obsessed with everything about this outfit specifically pattern mixing which coincidentally might also be an upcoming post.

Shake It Off | Hello, new pump up song. This is definitely different than anything TaySwizzle's done before, but I love it. I listen to it every single day when I am getting ready for school.

Guardians of the Galaxy | Oh my gosh, y'all this movie is so funny. It's the perfect mix of superhero movie and hilarious comedy. I love superhero movies, but sometimes I find them too intense, but since this one is so funny, it kinda helps contrast the action.

Kind of a short list but I've been so busy that's hard to find favorites!

Favorite Game Day Shops

With Game Day coming up this weekend, I thought I would share my favorite online shops that sell the cutest Game Day dressed! Better start building up your wardrobe. :)

Yours Truly Clothing  | Out of every shop on the internet, this one is one of my favorites in general. They have simple dresses that are absolutely beautiful for building a Game Day wardrobe.

The Mint Julep Boutique  | Mint Julep has a ton of options for Game Day right now. Their dresses are a little more trendy, but they have some amazing options that would be perfect.

Sideline Sweetie | One of the things I love about this site is you can shop by individual schools, and it sorts all of their clothes into those school's colors. Again, more trendy but still wonderful.

Bluetique Cheap Chic | Feel like we should've seen this one coming... I love Bluetique so much, and I love looking at all the pretty Kentucky blue since a lot stores cater to Georgia, Alabama and Auburn.

Tailgate Queen | This is another shop where you can shop by school, and I don't know why, but looking at this website just makes me happy and pumped for game day. They also have super cute state pride shirts.

Dressed for Friday Nights

After I saw Frannie's post, I was very inspired to saw y'all what I would wear to a football game. If I wasn't required to wear a polo and jean shorts. Slightly #salty... A lot girls at my school wear the same thing to games. High waisted shorts. A school tshirt. White converse. I do love the outfit (expect one soon), but I don't like it if everyone else is wearing it at the same place.

In Georgia, it gets hot. Last Friday, the heat index was over 100. Your ultimate goal is to look cute and not sweat yourself to death. Jeans are a no go until October (maybe) in Georgia. Sleeveless shirts are the way to go and so are shorts. Jacks are great shoes if you've broken them in all the way. Add a bow in your school color and you're ready to lose your voice screaming your heart out for the team. This outfit is perfect unless you want to go all out with face paint and all your school colors. I approve of that too.

Countdown to Game Day // South Carolina

South Carolina Gamecocks
The South Carolina Gamecocks is located in Columbia, SC. They have two conference titles and one division title. The Gamecocks are led by Coach Spurrier, and their colors are garnet and black.

Fun fact: This outfit is actually my Game Day outfit for high school. I wore a black dress and with my favorite black bow and my new favorite statement necklace, which is my new favorite! (Inspired by J.Crew)

Dress: Target // Shoes: Audrey Brooke // Necklace: Stein Mart // Bow: Handmade

Thank you to my bff, Marguerite, for taking these pictures.

In honor of all the girls going through recruitment/just got their bid, check out ShopRiffraff's Greek Love!

Check out my favorite pants ever from Old Navy! Just like J.Crew pixie pants but half as much.

I love this ear cuff from BaubleBar. Not my normal style, but it's super cool.

Make sure you're following me on all my social media because I am planning on working super hard on it next month. :) (@juliannakearn)

Countdown to Game Day // Tennessee

Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee joined the SEC in 1992. They have 6 national championship, and their last one was in 1998. Their colors are UT orange, white, and grey, and their mascot is Smokey.

In the words of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the Blind Side, I will NOT wear that gaudy orange... except when I am celebrating all the teams in the SEC. One of my favorite parts about Tennessee is that Peyton Manning and R.A. Dickey attend the school around the same time. I also love of Rocky Top especially when the former cheerleader is singing it to her child.

This outfit is inspired by my lack of orange is my wardrobe and my want to curl my hair.

Shirt: Gap // Skirt: Target // Boots: Madden Girl // Necklace: Target // Stack: Charming Charlie

Gone Incognito

I'm doing a super quick update because it's currently 9:30, and I still have homework to do. #procrastination. Oops.

I've been a junior for four days officially, and it's already slightly insane. Mainly because a lot of my teachers talk about the "future," and it's hard for me to wrap my head around the concept of being an upperclassman and working on deciding my future. I also have a ton of work... I say every day that I want to drop out and blog full time, but as you can tell blogging has taken a back seat for the moment until I can get into a good routine. But I haven't cried once, so I consider that an accomplishment. ;)

I hope that after today I can get back to posting regularly, but if I do miss a day, and ya'll miss me, be sure to follow me on all social media. Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Instagram.

Hope y'all are doing well!

Countdown to Game Day // Texas A&M

Texas A&M Aggies
A&M joined the SEC in 2012. They are known for the fans aka the 12th Man, and their colors are maroon and white. Their mascot is Miss Rev who is the cutest dog ever, and she's the most important person on campus.

Not gonna lie, I like Johnny Manziel. #sorrynotsorry I think going to a game in College Station would be so flipping cool. I've heard the concrete stadium shakes when fans get loud enough. Or go to the Midnight Yell. Their traditions just sound really cool.

Shirt: Target // Skirt: Target // Boot: Madden Girl

I am not gonna lie to y'all. I honestly thought this post wouldn't happen. I realized that nothing was done yesterday once I got out of school. :/ Thankfully, I only had Stat homework that I did at football.

I spend a lot of time looking at organization tips, and personally, Dorothy's are my favorite! Plus her video is great. :)

Southern Proper's new arrivals have me swooning. I am tempted to buy everything. Even the bowties. (Yes, this hat is absolutely perfect, and I need it.)

Bluetique redesigned their website! All their new arrivals are perfect for game days.

I'm loving these behind the instagram blog posts, and Sammy's is one of my favorites.
