Baseball Begins

Last Wednesday, baseball officially began. Spring training started in both Arizona and Florida, and I couldn't be more happy. I do love football with all my heart as most Southerners do, but my first true love was baseball when I was ten, and it always will be. I live in Georgia, so my team of choice "should" be the Braves, but whatever. I am huge Philadelphia Phillies fan because I grew up in a Phillies household with my dad teaching me everything I know about the sport. One of the happiest times I have ever seen him was when they won the World Series in '08. He did his "dad dance." 'Nough said. I'll also root for the Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants mainly because some of my favorite players are on those teams, and my dad is cool with that. But like usual, I have a lot of favorite players on different teams, but I will never root for the Yankees.

I haven't planned on any games to go to this season, but hopefully I will see some games in Cincy or Pittsburgh over the summer when I go visit my dad. I could go see the Sox in Boston if I go see Will. Maybe see teams that I haven't seen play before or go stalk watch some of my favorite players. I do want to go to Turner Field this summer since it's the second to last season that it's opened since Atlanta is getting a new field. Maybe I'll go see minor league games. I know Dayton and Lexington have minor league teams. I am not sure what this summer will bring, but I hope it's full of baseball.

I'll leave you with my favorite baseball quote: There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and baseball. The only problem - once baseball season starts, I change the order around a bit. -Al Gallagher, 1971
